These Shots were taken during the 2002 Prawn season aboard
the fishing vessel Pacific Faith.
Captain Ken is the owner/operator of the whole operation.
The 300 prawn traps that we are allowed to fish with are set out on
six different longline strings.
50 traps are snapped on to each longline.
Ken hauls up the gear with the puller. The contents of the traps are emptied into a plastic bin then sorted and washed.
Prawns are sorted into sizes of medium, large, extra large, jumbo
and super jumbo. The product is weighed off into 1 kg boxes,
then each prawn is positioned perfectly in it's box.
Prawns are frozen on plates in the hold. The hatch keeps the
prawns at a chillin -40C.
The hatch of the "Pacific Faith" will hold 10,000lbs of prawns.
The prawns are taken to shore to be shipped to Japan. Our
product is ready for the supermarket shelves.
Dungeness Crab.
Sabrina and I had a jigging contest, Sabrina won with a ling
cod that was just a touch bigger then mine.
Sabrina caught a real nice 19lb Spring Salmon.
Sometimes we catch octopus in our traps.
